Sally Clarkson’s heart for ministry started beating the moment she accepted Christ her freshman year of college in Texas. The random knock on her dorm room door and the offer of new life in Christ from a stranger planted the seed that would grow into a life of service in Christ’s name. It continued to grow and bear new fruit as she and Clay married, had children, and started Whole Heart Ministries.

God has expanded Sally’s ministry reach and influence far beyond anything she could have imagined in her college dorm room on that day in 1971. By God’s grace, she has been able to use her gifts of speaking and discipleship throughout her life to impact families, and especially women and mothers, for Christ here in the states and around the world. With such a wide range of ministries now—books, events, speaking, blog, podcast—it is simply more meaningful to gather all the she is doing under the name “Sally Clarkson Ministry.” It is the expression of all that God has done and is doing through her with Whole Heart Ministries—a multifaceted ministry of encouragement, inspiration, instruction, connection, and community.

About Sally Clarkson

2015-12-25+13.02.10-2.jpg

Sally grew up in a loving Christian family in Texas and New Mexico. With her stay-at-home mom, she was the spoiled little sister to two older brothers. Even as a child and young woman, she was a dreamer and idealist. Though raised in church, she didn’t fully receive Christ until she left home to attend Texas Tech University. She was active in ministry throughout college and joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ upon graduation. She would minister to students at the University of Texas in Austin, spend three years in Communist Poland and Eastern Europe, and return to minister to single adults and executive women in Denver, CO in 1980. She and Clay, then at Denver Seminary, reconnected and married a year later. After graduation, they would spend three years ministering to internationals in Vienna, Austria, then return to serve together on several church staffs before starting Whole Heart Ministries in 1994. Sally soon began a ministry of speaking and teaching in her own workshops and conferences, and for state homeschooling conventions. In 1998, she released her first book and offered her first WholeHearted Mother Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, the beginning of a long and continuing ministry-in-person as a conference speaker, and the start of a successful ministry-in-print as an author. Her virtual ministry began with her ITakeJoy.com blog in 2007, expanding to social media, podcasting, and other online media, becoming SallyClarkson.com in 2015. Sally Clarkson Ministry exists simply because Sally Clarkson heard the call of God on her life and took up the cause and Kingdom of Christ.

Speaker

Sally’s love for speaking found expression in college as an English and Speech major, in campus ministry, and then on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. As her gift developed, she began speaking for church groups, homeschooling groups and conventions, and then for countless home and parenting workshops that she and Clay would develop. Then, for over 20 years she would keynote over 60 Whole Heart conferences for families and mothers, and create hundreds of podcasts.

Author

Although Sally's book writing has been a "ministry in print," it has also fueled and formed her speaking and online ministries. Since her first book in 1998, Seasons of a Mother’s Heart, Sally has been a champion of biblical motherhood, of making a lifegiving home, of the call to "own your life" as a disciple of Christ, and of living by faith and grace. With more than twenty books in print, her passion and spirit is still to encourage and strengthen her readers.

Discipler — Mom Heart Ministry

Sally’s love of personal discipleship started in college and never stopped—with students, women in Poland and Eastern Europe, outreach ministries, home Bible studies, ministry training, small groups ministry, and more. Mom Heart Ministry was born out of her own small groups experiences with other moms. Ministry Intensive Training weekends at her home grew out of the need to train moms for the growing Mom Heart Ministry. It’s all about God’s command to “make disciples.”

Blogger — SallyClarkson.com

Since her first step of faith into the rapidly expanding world of "mom blogging" in 2007, Sally has simply shared online what she's thinking about and learning from God and His Word. Her blog posts are full of inspiring and encouraging personal reflections, real-life anecdotes, biblical insights, and spiritual inspiration. She could not imagine that over a decade later she would still be speaking every day into the hearts of tens of thousands of women.
